“Eye of the Dolphin” is a film produced in 2006, with Eric Gozlan as the associate producer. This emotional film draws you
into the life of a troubled teenager, Alyssa, played by veteran actress Carly Schroeder. A year after Alyssa’s mother drowns, she is suspended from school, so her Grandmother, with whom Alyssa has been living takes her, in desperation, to Alyssa’s father, despite the fact that Alyssa has been led to believe all her life that her father was dead. Her father, James, played by Adrian Dunbar, is a scientist studying dolphin communication on the Grand Bahama Island. James was also not aware that he had a daughter, and he knows nothing about child-rearing, especially a troubled girl like Alyssa.
The plot thickens as we become aware that James’ research facility is under threat by the powers that be who wish to turn it into an attraction for tourists. Tension mounts as we see that the daughter and father, dolphins and town, are all heading for confrontation. The poignant story ends when we and they all learn that we can learn much from the dolphins, when we learn to listen to their unique message.
